*He just couldn’t handle it. We’re referring to famed TikTok food critic Keith Lee and his visit to the City by the Bay, San Francisco. His food tour where he rates local mom-and-pop restaurants came to a sudden and unexpected end.
Lee did do a video to explain the suddenness of his cancellation in the Bay Area which he says did show him and his family a lot of love.
“Unfortunately, the Bay Area stop on the Keith Lee and family food tour is officially over prematurely…I truly want to say from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate every single bit of love,” Lee said in his video. “The people of the Bay were absolutely amazing, And I’ll never forget the hospitality and the love that y’all showed me.”
So if it wasn’t harsh treatment by the fine people of the area, what exactly was it that freaked him out enough to want to get out of Dodge? Well, one of the reasons according to Lee is that of safety. The Detroit-born reviewer, a retired MMA fighter, thinks the Bay is NOT “a place for tourists right now.”
“The people of the Bay are just focused on surviving,” he added. “The amount of tents and living structures and burnt-out cars that we saw people living in was shocking, to say the least.”

We can’t say that he’s wrong about that. The city has been having it pretty rough over the last few years because of increasing crime, homelessness, and the high cost of living.
The other reason Keith Lee ditched the Bay Area sooner than expected was that the TikToker, who is allergic to shellfish, was also hospitalized during the tour due to an allergic reaction that he said was caused by food he was served at one of the stops.
Speaking of which, Lee said he went to six food spots but he decided not to make a video about them because he didn’t have anything good to say.
He added that the Bay Area “isn’t the target audience for what we do” because many of the places that were recommended to him already had ample business. He said he tried some of those busy places and did not like the food.
“I’ve always been big on honesty, I’ve always been big on transparency, but I’ve never been big on completely tearing down anybody, and I feel like those six videos were only doing that,” Lee admitted.
“I want to stress, it is not normal for us to go to restaurants, not like it, and not post it,” he said. “Any other time we’ve ran into this situation, I’ve always had some kind of constructiveness to say. This was just different.”
Bay Area … California, you’ve got a problem.
