*The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention is proud to welcome TAYO Fatunla, British-Nigerian comic artist, editorial cartoonist, and illustrator of the African diaspora, as a virtual panelist for its 2025 edition! TAYO is the creator of the long-running series OUR ROOTS, which has also featured on EURWEB since 2008.
A graduate of the prestigious Kubert School and recipient of the ECBACC Pioneer Lifetime Achievement Award, TAYO is best known for OUR ROOTS, his long-running illustrated series that celebrates famous figures in Black history across the globe.
His work has been showcased on four continents. From UNESCO’s Cartooning in Africa forum in Ethiopia to collaborations with the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art. You’ve even seen his art featured in Burna Boy’s Afrobeat anthem “Ye!”
The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, Incorporated, or ECBACC, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit literacy and arts organization. The signature event was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in May 2002 by Mr. Yumy Odom, and the organization was registered in 2008. As the forerunner in urban comic book and sci-fi conventions, ECBACC offers year-round programs including S.T.AR.S., for Storytelling That Advances Reading Skills, and E.S.T.E.A.M., which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
