*Sunny Hostin has raised concerns over a recent deployment of Marines to Los Angeles amid protests against ICE raids, suggesting it signals a broader strategy by President Donald Trump.
As TheWrap reports, “The View” host argues that California is being used as “a test run” to deploy American troops against citizens in other regions, a theory she shared during the show’s Hot Topics segment.
The conversation began with the hosts addressing the ongoing repercussions of the National Guard’s presence in Los Angeles, a move not requested by the state’s governor. Reviewing footage of the protests, the panel noted that the situation’s intensity has been exaggerated, with Hostin asserting, “There is no crisis in Los Angeles that ICE did not cause.”
Hostin then proposed that Trump’s decision to send in military troops hints at a larger agenda. “I think we have to look at what’s happening from a bird’s-eye perspective, and look at the why. Trump is militarizing that state as a test run,” she stated. “As a test run, to make sure that he can do it in places like New York, that he can do it in other sanctuary cities.”
Expanding on her viewpoint, Hostin added, “And so, there is a plan to this, in my view, and I really think that there’s no question that the LAPD — that has 9000 police officers — could’ve handled this quite well.”
Sunny Hostin is shocked to learn that the American people OVERWHELMINGLY agree that invading our country is a crime.

Fellow host Joy Behar praised Hostin’s insight and suggested the move might also serve as a distraction from Trump’s struggling legislative efforts.
The discussion underscores a growing debate about the use of military forces in domestic settings, with Hostin’s perspective drawing attention to potential national implications.
The View co-host Sunny Hostin downplays the LA riots saying they were “very orderly” calling them “protests.”
“I spoke to 5 people that live in LA and they said that these protests were very, very orderly. They weren’t violent.”
