*Sunny Hostin, a co-host of “The View,” is facing marital tension due to her husband, an orthopedic surgeon, being named in a federal insurance fraud lawsuit in New York. Sources claim the legal troubles are causing strain in their 26-year marriage.
“Sunny used to brag she had it so good: the perfect family, a loving husband, and a luxurious lifestyle that her job on The View and his practice afforded, but this scandal has knocked Sunny off her stride,” an insider said, per RadarOnline.
We reported earlier that the lawsuit alleges that Dr. Emmanuel Hostin provided fraudulent medical services and billed insurance company American Transit through fraudulent claims. Sunny accused American Transit of attempting to avoid paying for medical and surgical procedures for people it insured and of using her celebrity status to smear her husband’s reputation.
Dr. Hostin, a New York City orthopedic surgeon and owner of Hostin Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, is one of nearly 200 individuals named in the federal lawsuit, Entertainment Weekly reports. The complaint alleges that Dr. Hostin, owner of his Hostin Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine practice, knowingly provided fraudulent medical services, including arthroscopic surgeries, and billed insurance company American Transit through fraudulent claims, receiving kickbacks disguised as dividends. American Transit, which works with Uber, Lyft, and taxi drivers, claims insurance fraud is widespread in New York due to the state’s No-Fault law.
The 698-page filing alleges that Dr. Hostin “knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other healthcare services including arthroscopic surgeries to Covered Persons through Hostin Orthopaedics” and fraudulently billed American Transit for the costs. He allegedly perpetrated this fraud “in exchange for kickbacks and/or other compensation which were disguised as dividends or other cash distributions.”

In a statement, Sunny said the plaintiff filed the lawsuit “to avoid paying for medical and surgical procedures for people it insured who were in pain. This company has a history of filing frivolous claims, has been investigated by New York State and has been sued by Uber Technologies.”
Dr. Emmanuel’s lawyers call the suit “meritless,” and deny all of the allegations while Sunny alleges that American Transit is “on the verge of bankruptcy,” and by naming her husband in the lawsuit, is attempting “to poison the well of public opinion because it does not have a valid case.”
While Sunny publicly defends her hubby, behind the scenes, “It’s not good for their marriage,” a friend said.
“She’s furious and demanding answers from her husband. No one would be surprised if she kicks him to the curb if the case doesn’t turn out the way she wants.”
According to the insider, “She may have some explaining to do to the ladies on The View, and they might be catty enough to bring it up on the show,” the tea spiller added.
“Sunny is stressed out on both the home and work front at a time when she was doing so well. This is a dark cloud hanging over her.”
The case allegedly has Sunny feeling “insecure and worried.”
“All she’s doing is burying her head in the sand,” the insider said.
