*This month at the Apple TV Press Day, Colin Farrell, shared the guiding principle in how he approached his “Sugar” character.
The neo-noir detective drama stars Academy Award nominee Farrell as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried.
“I love playing this character,” shared Farrell on how he approached his character. “I love Los Angeles. It took me a while to fall in love with this city. But over the last 23 years of living here, I’ve grown to love it more, and more, and more. It’ll never make sense to me as a city. It’s so multi-faceted. It’s so cross-cultural. If you want to be a surfer, you can be a surfer. An economist, a rocker, an artist, graffiti artist. It’s a colorful city. The food is amazing. It’s got such personality. But it’s not really exposed too much in television or film anymore. Most shows and most films -some that are even set here – take place elsewhere. To shoot on the streets of LA and have it as a character in the film was something that drew me back. And got me just as excited about the second year as I was the first.”

The eight-episode second season of “Sugar” will make its global return on Friday, June 19 on Apple TV with one episode, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through August 7.
In addition to Farrell, the second season of “Sugar” introduces a brand-new cast, including Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle and special guest star Shea Whigham.
