*Paramount+ announced that “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” the latest installment in the popular SONIC film franchise, will be available for streaming on February 18 in the U.S. and Canada.
Fans can also revisit the first two films in the trilogy, along with other SONIC content, through the service’s Sonic The Hedgehog collection, which includes retro animated series and the original event series Knuckles.
The release of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3″ led to a remarkable 185% increase in viewership for the previous films in the series. The film itself debuted with a massive box-office performance, grossing over $478 million globally and becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise. It is now the second highest-grossing video game film of all time.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” picks up shortly after KNUCKLES’ six-episode side quest and follows Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails on their most epic adventure yet. The team reunites to face a new, formidable foe, Shadow, a mysterious hedgehog with powers unlike anything they’ve ever seen. Together, team Sonic must secure an unexpected alliance if they hope to stop Shadow and save the planet they now call home. Fowler directed all three films in the series.
Directed by Jeff Fowler, who helmed all three films in the series, “Sonic the Hedgehog” reunites the beloved all-star cast, including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub. This time, the stakes are higher with the addition of newcomers Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter, alongside Keanu Reeves, who makes his electrifying debut as Shadow the Hedgehog. As Sonic’s world expands, fans can expect more high-octane action, humor, and heart in this latest installment of the blockbuster franchise.
