*Simone Biles and her NFL husband, Jonathan Owens, turned heads at the 2025 Kentucky Derby on May 3, dazzling fans with their coordinated lavender ensembles, and even more with their heartfelt comments about wanting to start a family.
While soaking in the Derby atmosphere at Churchill Downs, Biles shared that motherhood is something she’s always dreamed of. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother, have kids,” she told E! News. “And just like [Jonathan], he’s always wanted to be a dad, so it’s just really exciting.”
The couple, who married in 2023, isn’t focused on raising mini Olympians or NFL stars. Biles emphasized that their children will have the freedom to pursue whatever passions they choose.
“We are obviously gonna put them in sports in the beginning so they get their bearings and learn,” she explained. “But other than that, we don’t really care what they do as long as they find their passion. If they turn into musicians, who cares? That is still phenomenal.”
Owens echoed the joy of experiencing new milestones together. “It’s just good to get out of your element and just go out and enjoy each other,” he said. “It’s our first time being here, so we’re super excited [about] the atmosphere, the energy and to see all the outfits.”

This isn’t the first time Biles has spoken openly about starting a family. In an interview last August with Today host Hoda Kotb, she revealed, “Me and Jonathan always talk about kids. He would have had them yesterday if he could have.”
The couple’s love story includes two wedding ceremonies—a courthouse wedding in Houston followed by a lavish destination celebration in Cabo San Lucas. During the 2025 TIME100 Gala, Biles recalled a minor wedding mishap involving Owens and his groomsmen. “They weren’t wearing the correct colors I told them to, but it worked out,” she shared. Still, the decorated gymnast defended her man: “Don’t flame my husband, please… it was a good choice.”
From bridal gowns to future babies, Biles and Owens are savoring every chapter of their journey together.
