*Like father, like daughter. Deion Sanders’ daughter Shelomi is taking a page out of her famous dad’s playbook with giving back to marginalized communities.
The Alabama A&M basketball standout is maximizing her efforts working with the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice (CREEJ), an organization that is fighting to bring clean water and basic needs to the communities she’s dedicated to bettering. Taking to social media, Shelomi shined a light on the cause, putting her alliance with CREEJ, out there for the masses and the importance of working together to “bring real change to underserved rural areas.
“So I just wanted to come on here and talk to you about something. So, it’s known that so many communities in the US are still living without basic needs like clean water or even a proper sewage system. That’s why I’m proud to be partnering with CREEJ, the Centre for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice. Not only are they fighting for justice, but they are bringing real change to underserved rural areas,” she younger Sanders posted on Instagram. “So, I stand with CREEJ and their mission to make clear and safe living conditions a right and not a privilege.”
Shelomi’s alliance with CREEJ was not lost on Coach Prime. His response?
A simple namaste?? emoji in the comments, signifying that he loves and appreciates what she is doing.

Working with CREEJ is just a bit of the effort Shelomi puts in to make the community a better place.
According to Essentially Sports’ Yogesh Thanwani, she is generating talk around the country after announcing her partnership with Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty, in addition to deals with Meta and KFC
“Shelomi’s partnership with CREEJ is more than just an NIL partnership, though. It’s much more embedded in her values of being a genuinely good human being than just the monetary side of it, Thanwani pointed out. When highlighting the things her legendary father would be proud of. “Shelomi’s using her voice for people who don’t often get heard. Clean water, basic rights, and other real-world problems that don’t make highlight videos but matter way more than any stat line. And let’s be honest, no trophy could make a dad prouder than seeing his kid stand up like this.”
Shelomi’s dedication is a chip off the old block, considering Deion Sanders is just as known for using his fame and brand to uplift others and make a difference.
From providing flooding relief in Jackson, Miss, supporting youth sports and pledging his salary to upgrade facilities at Jackson State University, not to mention donating water to underserved neighborhoods, hosting Special Olympics clinics, and helping Colorado players open college savings accounts for their future kids, the patriarch laid a blueprint Shelomi is obviously following.

She may have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13, but the condition hasn’t dampened her spirit. To hear Shelomi tell it, the situation called for her to become “the support that she didn’t get.
“My peers were really uneducated about what diabetes is, so they just said ignorant things. So I was kind of closed off. I was still in denial. And just didn’t want anyone to know. I felt embarrassed by it,” she recalled to beyondtype1 about her struggles early on with diabetes and how turned her negative into a positive. “But then, as she got older, she decided to be the support that she didn’t get. She said about one of her viral videos, “I’d seen other people with diabetes posting about their experiences, so I thought, ‘Let me reach out and help someone else.’ And then, like, everyone loved it. It started going crazy and got a lot of love and feedback.”
