*NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe didn’t hold back on Sunday’s “Nightcap” podcast, playfully pressing his co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson for an unpaid debt of $5,900 while hinting at financial strain.
“I’ll pay you when I get ready,” Sharpe quipped, mimicking Jones’ stance in a contract dispute with linebacker Micah Parsons. “Like you do me. Like you owe me $5,900. You basically told me, ‘I’mma pay you when I get ready.’”
Johnson pushed back, denying he’d delayed payment. “Oh no, I ain’t say that,” he said, to which Sharpe retorted, “Your actions did. We’re coming up on a year. There’s a penalty for being late.”
Johnson, rejecting the Jones comparison, promised, “I’m gonna take care of you, baby. I got you.” Sharpe, glancing at his pockets, admitted, “Pockets light right now, Ocho. Pockets light,” prompting laughter from Johnson, who replied, “That’s why I love you. We gon’ be alright.”

The exchange came just days after ESPN parted ways with Sharpe. The separation followed a July settlement of a $50 million civil lawsuit that accused him of rape, battery, and emotional distress. Filed in April 2025 in Clark County, Nevada, the case was dismissed with prejudice on July 18.
The lawsuit, brought by a woman identified as “Jane Doe,” stemmed from an alleged relationship that began in 2023 when she was 19 or 20. Sharpe denied all allegations, calling the suit a “shakedown.”
