Serayah Ends Engagement To Joey Bada$$
Serayah has announced the end of her engagement and relationship with rapper and actor Joey Bada$$, saying she made the decision after confronting what she described as repeated infidelity.
The singer, songwriter, model and former “Empire” star shared the breakup in an Instagram post. Serayah and Joey, whose real name is Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, share a one-year-old son, Joey.
“After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to end my engagement and relationship with the father of my child,” Serayah wrote.
She said she had been committed to the future they were building together but ultimately faced a painful reality.

“I loved deeply, believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building, and wanted nothing more than to protect our family,” she also said in an IG video. “Unfortunately, I also had to face a painful truth: there had been repeated infidelity throughout our relationship, including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of my life.”
Serayah said she would not publicly disclose further details out of consideration for their son.
“This chapter did not end the way I prayed it would,” she concluded.
The former couple met through friends and began dating in early 2022 before publicly confirming their romance during a St. Lucia vacation in January 2024.
Serayah revealed her pregnancy during a New York Fashion Week runway walk in February 2025. The couple announced their son’s arrival that June and were reported to have become engaged around the same time.
Joey Bada$$, who plays Unique in “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” has not publicly responded to Serayah’s breakup announcement or allegations.
Blueface Detained After Reported Santa Clarita Shooting
Blueface was detained Sunday, Aug. 23, while Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies investigated a report of a shooting at a Santa Clarita restaurant.
The 29-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Jonathan Michael Porter, was detained at King of Crab after deputies responded to the restaurant around 5:27 p.m.
Despite initial reports describing Blueface as having been arrested, authorities said he was detained during the investigation and subsequently released.
Sgt. Josh Nemeth of the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station confirmed Blueface’s involvement and said investigators ultimately found no crime had occurred.
“Deputies responded, completed an investigation and determined no crime occurred at the location,” Nemeth told City News Service.
Authorities reported no injuries and made no additional arrests. The sheriff’s department also did not identify a suspect, weapon or victim.
Officials did not immediately explain what prompted the original report of a shooting.
Most importantly for Blueface, the detention resulted in no criminal charges connected to the incident, and he was out of police custody by Sunday evening.
John Paris Faces Two Major Surgeries
Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris remains on a difficult road to recovery following a medical emergency that resulted in doctors placing him in an induced coma.
A new update posted to the Standing for John Paris Facebook page said the musician woke from his coma again and was stable enough for doctors to evaluate his condition.
After additional testing, doctors determined that Paris will need “two major surgeries.”
The development means the drummer is expected to remain in the ICU “longer than everyone had hoped” as his recovery continues.
Paris’ wife, Kathy Merrick, acknowledged that the family is facing an extended process while expressing hope about her husband’s fight.
“This journey is definitely a marathon, but JP is fighting every single day and our hope is strong,” Merrick said.
Paris suffered the medical emergency earlier this month and was subsequently placed in an induced coma at the hospital.
Earlier in the week, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Ralph Johnson offered an encouraging assessment of his bandmate, saying Paris is “gonna be fine.”
