*Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for “Scary Movie 6,” giving fans a taste of the outrageous comedy and chaotic parody the franchise is known for. The film reunites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall as they navigate a world where no horror trope is safe from satire.
Set 26 years after the original run-ins with a masked killer reminiscent of “Ghostface,” the Core Four find themselves targeted once again. The new installment spares no parody, skewering reboots, remakes, sequels, prequels, spin-offs, origin stories, and every “final chapter” that is anything but final. According to the synopsis, “Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed.” The Wayans are back to lampoon not only horror films but also cultural trends, taking aim at cancel culture along the way.
Directed by Michael Tiddes, “Scary Movie 6” brings back familiar faces and introduces new characters, including Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Olivia Rose Keegan. The project is produced by Marlon, Shawn, Keenen Ivory, and Craig Wayans alongside Rick Alvarez, with Jonathan Glickman, Thom Zadra, Alexandra Loewy, and Marsha L. Swinton serving as executive producers. The script was written by Marlon, Shawn, Keenen, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez.
The original “Scary Movie” launched in 2000 as a parody of slasher films like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and the “Scream” franchise. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, the film became the highest-grossing in the series, earning $278 million worldwide on a $19 million budget. It also spawned five sequels, establishing a long-running tradition of irreverent comedy.
