*Hulu is set to premiere its latest original comedy special, “Roy Wood Jr.: Lonely Flowers,” on Friday, January 17, marking the third installment in the streaming platform’s new stand-up comedy brand, Hularious.
“In this stand-up special, Roy Wood Jr explores how lack of connection has sent society spiraling into a culture full of guns, rude employees, self-checkout lanes, and why some of us would rather be alone rather than be connected,” the official synopsis states.
In a new interview with The Daily Beast, “The Daily Show” alum said, “I just don’t see how we become as connected as we once were ever again.”
Wood explained that his new comedy special centers on the “loneliness epidemic in our society.” He blames technology for dividing us instead of uniting us in a clip from the new special, noting his particular disdain for the self-checkout machines at grocery stores.

“I do not like it! I do not work here, I just arrived,” he says in the special, per The Daily Beast. Watch the clip above.
