In this exclusive interview, Diaz opened up about what makes the show special, her undeniable chemistry with Deion, and some of the most surprising and memorable moments from the season.

Diaz, known for her time on 106 & Park, Entertainment Tonight, and GMA, has worked on some of the most high-profile shows in television. However, We Got Time Today stands apart for one major reason: “I get to literally sit with a living icon legend every single time on that show,” she says. “And wat makes the show unique is it’s all Deion Sanders. He’s the star. We’re in his world. He’s the creator. We Got Time Today—it’s his puppy. So it’s amazing. We have fun. I think we’re a spot for the culture, and we have honest, real conversations with all of our guests.”

Landing the Co-Host Role and Her Banter with Deion
Joining the show wasn’t an automatic process for Diaz—she had to audition.
“Deion was looking for somebody that he was going to have next to him. He auditioned several different girls, and we just kicked it,” she reveals. “I always say that my audition tape really should come out because the trash talking that we did there… I think that’s what made Deion and I unique. I’ll go toe to toe with him, and I don’t care. I won’t back down. I’ve been doing this way too long to be scared of you. You do not intimidate me.”
This fearless attitude has allowed Diaz and Sanders to create a genuine, entertaining dynamic.
“We feed off of each other. And you can’t buy real chemistry. You can put people together, but you can tell when it’s not working. Deion and I just work,” she explains. “I know my role. I know Deion is the star. My job is to uplift him and make sure the business part of the show continues.”
Bringing Her Own Flavor to the Show
With a background in entertainment journalism, Diaz ensures that We Got Time Today delivers compelling interviews.
“My journalism aspect comes in the background during the interview part. There will be hard questions, and I’m going to ask them, but we’re always respectful,” she says.
A recent episode featuring Nick Cannon perfectly showcased this approach.
“Let’s get into this real family tree, these relationships that you have,” Diaz laughs. “He’s spoken in length about his family dynamic, but it’s different when you’re hanging out with the homies. You tend to say something that you haven’t on another outlet before.”
Another unforgettable episode featured guests from the “Decisions, Decisions” podcast, leading to a spicy revelation from Sanders.
“It was definitely a different side of Deion that we haven’t seen before. It was kind of fun to see him squirm and be a little uncomfortable.”
Memorable Moments and Viral Clips
One of the most surprising and entertaining moments of the season came from comedian Leslie Jones.
“When Leslie Jones proposed to Deion on set, that was something I will never forget. She was blunt about it, honestly. It was funny. It was our first and only proposal so far on the show.”
As for what Sanders loves discussing the most? Relationships.
“He loves talking about relationships. Anytime we get into that, it’s a good time. I love how he gets candid about being a father and how his mindset has evolved as a coach and a dad.”
The Future of We Got Time Today
With the season finale approaching, Diaz is excited about what’s ahead.
“Season one has been a journey. It’s been a learning lesson for both of us, and we’re excited to continue. We have some amazing guests lined up.”
She also sees the show carving out a lasting place in the streaming world.
“The stand-out factor is the star power. You have an iconic person like Deion Sanders, who is a genuine fan of Tubi. He loves Black cinema. He watches football and Tubi. That comes from a real place, so the synergy between Tubi and Deion just makes for a perfect match.”
As for her hopes for the show’s future?
“I can’t wait to just make it bigger, better, more games. I just hope that we become like the cornerstone for the culture—a safe place for us to go talk about new projects and just be a voice. That’s what we strive and love to do.”
