*The woman accused of opening fire on Rihanna‘s Beverly Hills mansion while the singer and her three young children were inside has been identified as 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, with bail set at a staggering $10.2 million.
Ortiz was arrested on March 8, 2026, shortly after the midday attack. According to court records released today, March 9, she now faces multiple felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm at an inhabited dwelling, and criminal threats.
The Incident
Around 1:20 p.m. PT on March 8, Ortiz allegedly approached the gated property in a vehicle and fired multiple rounds—possibly from an AR-15-style rifle—striking the front gate and exterior wall. Law enforcement sources confirmed that approximately 5–7 shots were fired, with at least one round penetrating the structure, though no bullets entered the main living quarters.
Miraculously, no injuries were reported. However, the LAPD has confirmed that Rihanna was home at the time alongside her three children with partner A$AP Rocky: sons RZA (3) and Riot (2), and five-month-old daughter Riot. A$AP Rocky was not present during the incident. A source close to the family stated they are “all doing okay” but have since increased security measures.
Ortiz, from Orlando, Florida, fled the scene but was apprehended by LAPD officers in the Sherman Oaks area approximately 30 minutes later. A firearm was recovered from her vehicle.

The $10.2 Million Bail
Ortiz is currently being held without bail pending arraignment, expected March 10–11 at Los Angeles Superior Court. The $10.2 million figure—exceptionally high even by California standards—reflects the severity of the charges, the high-profile nature of the victim, and the fact that the residence was occupied by a family with small children.
Legal experts note that such a high bail amount signals prosecutors believe Thompson poses a significant flight risk and a continued danger to the community.
Disturbing Social Media Trail
As investigators work to determine motive, a disturbing digital footprint has emerged. Screenshots from a Facebook account allegedly belonging to Thompson show erratic and threatening posts directed at Rihanna in the weeks leading up to the shooting.
In one post which was dated February 23, 2026, the account reportedly shared a selfie with a caption targeting the singer directly. Another post featured a bizarre video aimed at rapper Cardi B. While authorities have not yet verified the authenticity of these posts, they are understood to be part of the active investigation into Thompson’s possible obsession with the star and her mental health history.
Despite the online rants, the LAPD has stated there is currently no confirmed prior connection, personal relationship, or documented stalking history between Thompson and Rihanna. Authorities are describing the incident as “isolated” for now while continuing to investigate.
A History of Security Scares
This is not the first time the Grammy-winning artist has faced a security breach at her home. In 2018, a man named Eduardo Leon broke into a different Rihanna-owned property in the Hollywood Hills, spending 12 hours inside while she was away. Leon later pleaded no contest to stalking and received a 10-year stay-away order.
However, the March 8 incident marks a terrifying escalation from trespassing to armed violence.

Public Reaction and Ongoing Conversation
News of the shooting sparked an outpouring of relief across social media, with fans and fellow celebrities expressing gratitude that Rihanna and her children escaped physically unharmed. The high bail amount has also generated discussion, with many calling it appropriate given the potential for tragedy.
For @eurweb readers, the incident reignites a crucial conversation about the unique dangers faced by high-profile Black celebrities. From stalking to home invasions, the intersection of fame and obsession creates security challenges that require constant vigilance.
What’s Next
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz’s formal arraignment is expected to take place on March 10 or 11. Prosecutors are expected to argue for continued detention given the nature of the charges and the high bail amount already set.
Rihanna has not issued a public statement regarding the incident. Her security team has reportedly increased protection at the residence, and the family is said to be receiving additional support during this time.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine a clear motive and whether any prior threats were made against the singer.
