*The upcoming Netflix documentary “Rebel Royals: An Unlikely Love Story,” premiering September 16, dives into the romance between Norway’s Princess Märtha Louise and Hollywood shaman Durek Verrett.
“Marrying into the royal family, it’s just very, very surreal,” Verrett says in the trailer, recalling how Märtha Louise advised him to “just be yourself” before meeting King Harald and Queen Sonja. “When I met the queen and king, they were just staring at me,” he adds.

Princess Märtha Louise, who stepped back from official royal duties in 2022 to focus on her business ventures, identifies as a clairvoyant. “Because he’s a shaman, they say that he’s dangerous for the royal family and that I’m brainwashed,” she states, addressing criticism about her relationship with Verrett.
The documentary highlights their defiance of expectations, with Märtha Louise noting, “A lot of people expected me to be a certain way and live up to what I’m supposed to be, and I don’t.” Their story unfolds against a backdrop of media challenges and personal authenticity.

Chaiklin describes them as “two completely unexpected, wild, and charismatic characters from totally different worlds, navigating a swirl of controversy and fighting for love.”
