*Disney has released the new trailer and poster for “Freakier Friday,” the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2003 hit comedy, set to premiere in theaters on August 8, 2025.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan return as Tess and Anna Coleman, the mother-daughter duo whose body-swapping antics captivated audiences over two decades ago. Directed by Nisha Ganatra and inspired by Mary Rodgers’ novel “Freaky Friday,” this sequel introduces a fresh twist to the beloved franchise.
The story unfolds years after the original’s chaotic identity swap, with Anna now navigating motherhood with her daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As two families blend, Tess and Anna face new challenges, only to discover that the magic of unexpected transformations might strike again.

The 2003 “Freaky Friday,” directed by Mark Waters and written by Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon, was the third adaptation of Rodgers’ 1972 novel and the fifth in the franchise. It followed Tess and Anna as they swapped bodies via enchanted Chinese fortune cookies, earning over $160 million globally on a $26 million budget. Critics lauded Curtis and Lohan’s performances, with Curtis earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
