*Priscilla Presley is opening up about her late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s whirlwind marriage to Michael Jackson, offering a candid perspective on one of the most talked-about celebrity unions of the 1990s.
In her upcoming memoir, “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” Priscilla shares her deep reservations about the relationship and her suspicions about the pop icon’s true intentions, Page Six reports.
In an excerpt published by The Sun, Priscilla recalls a conversation she had with Lisa Marie early in the marriage. “I asked her if they had a physical relationship,” Priscilla, now 80, writes. “Like so many people, I wasn’t sure.” Lisa Marie confirmed that they did, simply replying, “Yeah.”

Lisa Marie and Jackson’s marriage began in 1994 and ended just two years later. Priscilla admits she was unsettled from the very beginning. “I was appalled by the marriage,” she writes. “I knew in my bones that Michael wasn’t marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty.”
At the time, Jackson was facing child molestation allegations, which he consistently denied. According to Priscilla, Jackson leaned on Lisa Marie during that scandal to improve his public image, while her daughter believed wholeheartedly in his innocence.
“Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it,” Priscilla claims. “The childlike innocence he projected was part of his public mask.”

Priscilla also describes Jackson’s behavior during family gatherings as unusual, saying he would avoid interacting with adults and instead spend most of his time with children. She ultimately labeled the relationship “bizarre.”
Priscilla’s revelations come less than a year after the release of Lisa Marie’s own posthumous memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” which was completed by her daughter Riley Keough and published in October 2024. Lisa Marie’s book offers a deeply personal account of her time with Jackson, revealing how their relationship began and the challenges they faced as a couple.
Lisa Marie recalls first meeting Jackson as a child but reconnecting in 1994 during a pivotal moment in Las Vegas, when she was still married to her first husband, Danny Keough. Jackson’s heartfelt confession of love ultimately changed everything.
“Michael said, ‘I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children,’” Lisa Marie writes. “I didn’t say anything immediately, but then I said, ‘I’m really flattered, I can’t even talk.’ By then, I felt I was in love with him too.”
Their relationship was passionate but complicated. Lisa Marie writes about being stunned when Jackson revealed he was still a virgin at the age of 35.
“I think he had kissed Tatum O’Neal, and he’d had a thing with Brooke Shields, which hadn’t been physical apart from a kiss,” she recalls. “He said Madonna had tried to hook up with him once, too, but nothing happened. I was terrified because I didn’t want to make the wrong move.”
Together, the two memoirs provide strikingly different perspectives: Lisa Marie’s is deeply personal and romantic, while Priscilla’s is cautious and critical. Nearly three decades after the relationship ended, their combined stories shed new light on a marriage that remains one of the most fascinating celebrity unions of its time.
