Obama Shares Words of Support After Biden’s Cancer Diagnosis
*Former President Barack Obama has responded to the news of Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis with a heartfelt message of hope and admiration. Posting on X Sunday, Obama expressed confidence in his former vice president’s strength and long-standing commitment to cancer research.
“Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family,” Obama wrote. “Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace.”
He ended the post with a simple and sincere wish: “We pray for a fast and full recovery.”
Biden’s Cancer Diagnosis Sparks National Concern
Biden’s personal office released a statement confirming the 81-year-old former president has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The diagnosis followed a medical evaluation prompted by increasing urinary symptoms, The Hill is reporting.

“On Friday he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement said. “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”
Biden and his family are currently reviewing treatment options with his physicians, according to the statement.
Biden’s Cancer Moonshot Legacy Highlighted
Obama’s message also recognized Biden’s leadership in the fight against cancer through the Cancer Moonshot initiative. First launched during the Obama administration in 2016, the program aimed to accelerate cancer research, expand prevention and treatment strategies, and improve patient access to care.
Biden relaunched the initiative during his presidency, reaffirming his commitment to making cancer a national priority. The program continues to bring together scientists, medical professionals, and private industry to collaborate on solutions to one of the world’s deadliest diseases.
A Nation Rallies Around the Former President
Obama joins a growing list of public figures, including Donald Trump, who have expressed support for Biden following the diagnosis. As news spreads, Americans across the political spectrum are sharing messages of strength and recovery for the former president.

Though Biden now faces a personal health battle, his decades of work in public service and health policy have earned him broad support in this latest challenge. As Obama put it, Biden’s resolve and grace are qualities the country has long seen—and will likely see again as he faces prostate cancer head-on.
