*Nicki Minaj revealed she received a Trump “Gold Card” that provides a pathway to U.S. citizenship following her appearance at a government-sponsored event. The Trinidad-born rapper shared an image of the document on X, accompanied by the single-word caption, “Welp.”
In a follow-up post, the hip-hop star elaborated on her plans, writing, “Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President,” and noted, “Gold Trump card free of charge.” She distinguished her current situation from her existing immigration status, stating, “Residency? This isn’t for Residency. I’ve had that for decades.” Minaj previously acknowledged on Facebook in 2018, “I came to this country as an illegal immigrant @ 5 years old.”
The disclosure followed Minaj’s January 28 appearance at an event promoting investment accounts for infants. During that occasion, she declared herself “probably the president’s No. 1 fan,” and dismissed negative reactions by asserting, “the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all.”

According to the government’s website for the Trump Gold Card, it functions as a visa that requires applicants to pay a $150,000 DHS processing fee, alongside a $1 million contribution. Minaj’s vocal support for Trump and Vice President JD Vance has generated controversy.
Her political statements have sparked an online backlash, with a Change.org petition demanding her deportation accumulating over 90,000 signatures following her December appearance with Erika Kirk at Turning Point USA’s America Fest. The petition, titled “Deport Nicki Minaj to Trinidad,” condemns her policy positions and public statements, declaring, “Deporting Nicki Minaj back to her home country, Trinidad, seems the most viable solution to curtail her harmful actions.”
Minaj also praised Trump after his November statements about potential military intervention against Nigeria’s government concerning “the killing of Christians,” and she discussed the matter with Mike Waltz, Trump’s U.N. ambassador.
