*Nia Long appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” and shared a surprising story about the time she unknowingly turned down Prince.
“I was at Roxbury back in the day and I had on my Kenneth Cole pumps—I remember!” Long told Hudson, per Complex. “We were walking out of the club and this guy tries to grab my hand. And I’m like, ‘I’m from Brooklyn, don’t be grabbing me, touching on me!’”
Long’s instinctive response might have seemed justified at the time, but she quickly learned she had just dismissed one of the most famous musicians in the world. “We get outside and my girlfriend was like, ‘Girl, you know that was Prince!’” she recalled. When Long and her friend rushed back into the club to find him, Prince was gone.
“There’s a happy ending,” Long continued. Nearly two decades after the nightclub encounter, her friend threw a birthday party and invited Prince. “I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, Prince is at my birthday party!’” she said. “I sit next to Prince and I’m having this whole flashback about being in the club… and he wanted to talk about my hair all night.”

Instead of discussing fame or music, Prince’s curiosity centered on something unexpected—hair routine. “I’ll take what I can get,” Long added. “It’s Prince. I was like, whatever you want—we can buy hair, makeup, skincare, whatever you want.”
