*“Crime 101’ is the perfect date movie. And “Crime 101” is suitable for the whole family. The movie blends excitement, thrilling car chases, and romance. The characters are engaging, which is rare in most movies today, because of their content and talent. The crime drama is a neo-noir homage to the riveting, breathtaking cinematic classics of yesteryear.
In the all-star ensemble led by Chris Hemsworth (a prolific jewel thief), Halle Berry (a high-end claims adjuster), and Mark Ruffalo (LAPD investigator), the balance between right and wrong, haves and have-nots, and life and death races along a broken white line that makes sharp and unexpected turns.
Based on Don Winslows’s novella, director Bart Layton assembled a star-studded roster. Some of the actors such as Hemsworth (Thor), Berry (Storm), and Ruffalo (Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk) from the MCU, are familiar to audiences. Corey Hawkins, Monica Barbaro, Barry Keoghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte round out the cast.

‘Wuthering Heights’
Emily Brontë would roll over in her grave if she saw the sexualized, bastardized version of her classic novel, “Wuthering Heights.” The sado-masochistic version of “Wuthering Heights” showing the brutal treatment of Isabella Linton (Alison Oliver) in chains imitating a dog is grotesque.
There are no likable characters. Margot Robbie is miscast as Catherine Earnshaw. The performances can best be described as emoting instead of acting. But then, the performers are not to blame when having to adhere to a script containing mindless dialogue and more humping than a rabbit in heat. My advice is to read the book.
Directed by Emerald Fennell, “Wuthering Heights” also stars Jacob Elordi, Ewan Mitchell, Shazad Latif, Owen Cooper, Hong Chau, and Martin Clunes.
‘GOAT’
“GOAT” is set in an all-animal world. The story follows Will, a small goat with big dreams who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to join the pros and play roarball—a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the fastest, fiercest animals in the world. Will is determined to revolutionize the sport and prove finally that “smalls can ball!” Suffice to say, “GOAT” is all about following your dreams and a ghetto kid making it big. As with any generic narrative, a fart joke that is not funny lowers the bar.
Directed by Tyree Dillihay, “GOAT” is voiced by Caleb McLaughlin, Stephen Curry, Aaron Pierre, David Harbour, Nicola Coughlan, Jelly Roll, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Hudson, and Sherry Cola.
