*NeNe Leakes has openly discussed the difficulties parents face when a child rejects help. That struggle has resurfaced now that her son, Bryson Bryant, 36, has spent nearly two months in a Georgia jail after being taken into custody on May 1.
According to TMZ, Bryant remains behind bars for violating the terms of his probation and failing to pay child support. His bond is $27K. Bryant’s legal troubles trace back to a 2023 drug case in which police allegedly found him with fentanyl. Police added a false identification charge after Bryant told officers he was his younger brother, Brentt Leakes.
He ultimately avoided a conviction on the drug charge through a plea deal, but a judge ordered him to complete 12 months of probation, pay a $500 fine, finish 40 hours of community service, and submit to random drug testing. Court documents reviewed by TMZ show he completed none of it.

Bryant’s run-ins with law enforcement go back well over a decade. A DUI charge came in 2011, followed by a suspended license arrest the next year. NeNe, who shares Bryson with ex Calvin Bryant, discussed her son’s addiction struggles during a 2023 appearance on “Reality with the King.”
“Like many families out there, I have family members that are struggling with drugs and certain addictions,” she said, Page Six reports. “He has an addiction. He’s been struggling with it for years. He’s been in rehab for a couple of times and he still has come back out and relapsed.”
She said years of intervention taught her a hard lesson. “I learned through counseling myself that he has to say, ‘I’m ready to go,’ not me making him go. So until Bryson is ready to make a change, [there’s] nothing I can do.”
