*As National Coffee Day approaches on September 29, 2025, coffee lovers across the U.S. can look forward to a variety of free drinks and discounts.
According to USA Today, major chains are rolling out special offers. Dunkin’ is giving customers a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase through its app, while DoorDash is offering $6 off Dunkin’ delivery orders of $20 or more on September 29.
Krispy Kreme is giving away a “free cup of Joe & Doughnut” in a marketing campaign with Joe Jonas at participating locations, no purchase required. The chain is also offering a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for $1 with the purchase of a regular dozen. Starbucks rewards app users earn 100 bonus stars—enough for a free coffee—on any brewed coffee purchase through September 29, while Grubhub+ members receive $7 off Starbucks delivery orders of $20 or more.

Smaller chains like Biggby Coffee ($1 16-ounce coffee) and Beans & Brews (free medium drip for loyalty members) join the celebration. Atlas Coffee Club offers a free 12-ounce bag with subscriptions, and Keurig slashes 50% off coffee with select brewer purchases. With deals brewing nationwide, check local coffee shops’ social media for more savings.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is offering loyalty members two special deals: a buy-one-get-one-free beverage on September 28 from noon to 6 p.m. local time, and a $5 large beverage available all day on September 29. Both offers can be redeemed through the company’s app and are limited to one use per member.
Circle K will give away a free medium hot or iced coffee on September 29 through its app, either as a coupon or an Inner Circle reward at participating U.S. locations. Community Coffee is offering 25% off all orders placed on September 29 with the code COMMUNITY25!. Dunn Brothers Coffee is giving customers a free small brewed coffee on the same day, while Dutch Bros. will provide two free National Coffee Day car coasters with the purchase of two or more drinks on September 29, while supplies last.
Meanwhile, recent studies suggest that coffee may support healthy aging in women, though adding cream and sugar can significantly increase calorie intake.
Coffee prices are also on the rise. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average cost of a pound of ground roast coffee reached $8.87 in August — a 40% increase from $6.31 a year earlier — driven by weather-related challenges and tariffs. “Coffee’s staying power as a beloved touchstone in Americans’ daily lives is remarkable, and its contributions to our health and our economy give Americans even more ‘grounds for celebration’ this National Coffee Day and every day,” said National Coffee Association president and CEO Bill Murray.
