*A holiday meal ended in violence when a Florida woman allegedly opened fire on her son outside a Miami eatery on Christmas Day.
According to Local10.com, the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Roseita Lavette Smith of Fort Lauderdale, allegedly shot her son in the left thigh following a dispute in the parking lot at Red Rooster, located at 920 NW Second Ave in Overtown. Officers and Miami Fire Rescue found the victim bleeding and transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.
Investigators said the confrontation began inside the restaurant when Smith grew increasingly agitated, claiming her son was behaving in a manner she considered disrespectful toward herself and other relatives present. The dispute spilled into the parking area, where both individuals got into Smith’s car, and the confrontation intensified further. Police said when the victim exited the car, Smith followed and fired a single shot.
