
*A New York mother and her two children, ages 9 and 5 months, are presumed dead after she intentionally jumped from Niagara Falls.
The woman identified as Chaianti Means, 33, and her children, Roman Rossman and Mecca Means, crossed a guardrail on Luna Island in Niagara Falls, New York, around 9 p.m. on October 30. According to WIVB, Means, who reportedly worked as a domestic violence counselor, lived in Niagara Falls with her children. Their bodies have not yet been recovered.
New York State Police have initiated efforts to retrieve the bodies, PEOPLE reports.
“The investigation has determined that this incident was intentional in nature, though the circumstances remain under investigation,” police said in a statement, PEOPLE reports. “New York State Park Police and State Police search/rescue efforts were conducted with negative results.”
Authorities are using unmanned aircraft and underwater units to recover the bodies.
