*Morgan Freeman says he has never hosted “Saturday Night Live,” but he’d be delighted to change that.
Speaking with USA Today, Freeman hinted he has never received an invitation to take on the gig. Even so, Freeman shared his enthusiasm: “I wouldn’t mind hosting it at all… As a matter of fact, it would be a feather in the ol’ cap, you know?”
At the same time, Freeman is pushing back against the growing use of AI tools that imitate performers without permission. He described the practice as harmful and exploitative. “If you’re gonna do it without me, you’re robbing me,” he said, addressing concerns over AI voice cloning. His remarks follow a Guardian interview in which he thanked fans who flagged a TikTok video falsely labeled, “Narrated by me, Morgan Freeman,” and confirmed that his legal team is now addressing the matter.

Freeman also reflected on his long career, acknowledging that his once boundless excitement for acting has mellowed slightly after more than 60 years in the industry. He told The Guardian, “The appetite is still there. I will concede that it’s dimmed a little. But not enough to make a serious difference.”
Despite the natural shifts that come with age and decades of work, Freeman emphasized that stepping away from the profession is not on his agenda. Even when retirement crosses his mind, the idea vanishes the moment a new opportunity comes along.
“Sometimes the idea of retirement would float past me but, as soon as my agent says there’s a job or somebody wants you or they’ve made an offer, the whole thing just boils back into where it was yesterday: how much you’re going to pay, where we’re gonna be?” he explained.
Freeman’s comments paint a picture of a performer who remains committed to his craft, protective of his identity, and open to new challenges — including, if asked, a turn on the “SNL” stage.
