*Former First Lady Michelle Obama just admitted during a podcast interview what a lot of Black people already know: Students at Ivy League universities are no smarter than students at other colleges, including at HBCUs.
She voiced her opinion on this recent interview. Obama, who also earned her law degree from Harvard, said it wasn’t until after she made straight A’s her first semester at Princeton in undergrad that she realized she was smart enough to fit in anywhere and that many of the White students were there because they were athletes or legacy students whose parents graduated from Princeton or worked at Princeton – and had it not been for those factors, they probably would not have been accepted to Princeton.
Obama isn’t the first person to confirm this widely known fact. I said this years ago and so have many others who have matriculated at predominately white universities. I graduated from Tennessee State University (a HBCU) and American University (a PWU).
Most White people are good at selling the dream of prestige. That how they get students of all races and cultural backgrounds to jump through hoops to get that acceptance letter.
