The “Power Book II: Ghost” actor has partnered with the R.A.R.E. (Restoring America through Recovery Education) Foundation to donate $2.4 million in financial literacy resources to three high schools in Staten Island, New York. During a recent visit to Port Richmond High School, Rainey shared his personal experience with financial literacy with students while stressing how important it is for them to be financially prepared for what lies ahead as they transition into adulthood, reports Hot97.
The goal behind Rainey’s alliance with R.A.R.E. is to empower underserved communities by equipping young people with the needed tools to navigate their financial futures confidently.
During Rainey’s appearance at Port Richmond High, the foundation shined a light on Rainey and his commitment to creating opportunities for young people via social media
“Huge THANK YOU to @michaelraineyjr for sponsoring Port Richmond High School and providing every student and their parents with essential Financial Literacy Education and Equifax Identity Theft Protection!” R.A.R.E posted. “Your commitment to empowering the next generation is truly inspiring. This marks the first step in our mission to ensure every NYC student is financially prepared for adulthood.”

The event is among those promoting the foundation’s objective of improving financial literacy in underrepresented communities.
To aid in its focus, R.A.R.E. provides access to multiple resources, identity protection, credit monitoring, and digital learning tools.
Rainey Jr.’s contribution will directly benefit Staten Island students, Hot 97 noted, adding that it will help them build a foundation for long-term financial stability.
The Louisville, KY-born entertainer’ initiative is part of R.A.R.E.’s bigger effort to address financial inequities, with hopes to instill lifelong skills in students, helping them avoid common pitfalls and achieve economic independence with practical solutions in today’s ever-changing economy.
Rainey isn’t the only celebrity partnering with the foundation. Tashera Simmons and iconic rap group The Lox have let their support to similar R.A.R.E. programs across New York City, with more than 7,000 students in Yonkers, NY impacted by the financial literacy initiatives.
