*Michael Jackson has secured a historic Billboard achievement that remains unmatched by any other performer. The iconic song “Thriller” climbed from the 32nd position to number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart released November 15, establishing Jackson as the only artist to appear in the top 10 across six separate decades: the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
Halloween’s timing played a significant role in “Thriller’s” resurgence during the October 31-November 6 tracking week. Data from Luminate shows the song generated 14 million streams (a 57% increase from the previous week) and reached 9.3 million listeners through radio airplay (a 124% jump). “Thriller” reached its highest position at number 4 on the Hot 100 in 1984.
The song surpasses two other legendary tracks from his “Thriller” album—”Billie Jean” and “Beat It”—which each remained on the chart for 25 weeks starting in 1983, Billboard reports.
Meanwhile, the first teaser trailer for the Michael Jackson biopic has dropped, with the late pop star’s nephew Jaafar Jackson bringing the music icon to life.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, “Michael” also features Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael, Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, and Miles Teller as lawyer and manager John Branca. The biopic aims to explore Jackson’s life, capturing “triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale – from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, captured by his most iconic performances,” per the synopsis.
“Michael” arrives in theaters on April 24, 2026. Watch the trailer below.
