*Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” is once again climbing the charts, reaffirming its enduring popularity decades after its release.
On the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, the “Thriller” classic has returned to the top 10 at No. 8 following a brief absence, Forbes reports. Its all-time peak on the chart is No. 7, and across its chart history, “Billie Jean” has spent 43 weeks on the listing.
The song also sets a personal best on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, re-entering at No. 12. It has appeared on this broader chart for only four weeks, a fraction of its tenure on the R&B-only tally.
Globally, “Billie Jean” lands at No. 99 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. Jackson has long maintained a presence across multiple Billboard charts simultaneously, a feat few artists sustain over decades.
The success of “Billie Jean” builds on Jackson’s historic Billboard performance last year. In November 2025, his iconic track “Thriller” climbed from No. 32 to No. 10 on the Hot 100, making Jackson the only artist to reach the top 10 across six decades: the 1970s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
Halloween timing helped drive “Thriller’s” resurgence during the October 31–November 6 tracking week. Luminate data showed the song generated 14 million streams, a 57% increase from the previous week, and 9.3 million radio listeners, up 124%. “Thriller” originally reached its peak at No. 4 on the Hot 100 in 1984.
The song also surpassed fellow Thriller hits “Billie Jean” and “Beat It,” which each spent 25 weeks on the Hot 100 starting in 1983, highlighting Jackson’s unmatched impact on the charts, Billboard reports.
