*Calls to revisit Tory Lanez’s 2020 shooting conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion case reached a fever pitch after the rapper, born Daystar Peterson, was air‑lifted to a Bakersfield hospital last week with 14 stab wounds inflicted by another inmate.
At a Los Angeles news conference hosted by nonprofit Unite the People, supporters urged California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Lanez and highlighted what they call exculpatory evidence. “We think it’s time. Enough is enough. It’s time to bring the brother home,” said Ceasar McDowell, the group’s co‑founder, per FOX 11 Los Angeles.
Attorney Walter Roberts asserted Lanez “never shot anybody,” claiming Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris, fired three rounds and that Lanez merely tried to disarm her, causing two additional shots. “In essence, Mr. Peterson never shot anybody. Never even touched them,” Roberts said, adding that a bodyguard allegedly overheard Harris admit to the shooting.
Megan has pushed back with a fiery TikTok post: “At what point are yall gonna stop making me have to re‑live being shot BY TORY!? … FACTS ARE FACTS, he did it, it was PROVEN IN COURT… TORY PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE you a f*ing demon,” she wrote, Z100 New York reports.
The Grammy-winning star continued, “One min him/ yall said I was never shot now yall letting him play in yall face AGAIN and say I was shot but it wasn’t him oh okay… ?!” she wrote. “I’m sick of this sh*t LEAVE ME TF ALONE!!!! HE AINT DARE GET ON THAT STAND AND DENY HE SHOT ME AND THAT WAS HIS CHOICE BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE DID THAT SH*T! IDGAF ABT A BLOG OR A BOT!!! WHY IN TF WOULD ME … MEGAN THEE STALLION HAVE TO LIE ON THIS MF ABT SHOOTING ME!”

She further called out “the hate campaign on the internet,” adding, “TORY YOU SHOT ME !! Ain’t no new f**king evidence yall been saying the same sh*t for years.”
Meg’s attorney, Alex Spiro, dismissed the press‑conference claims: “Tory Lanez was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers… This is not a political matter, this is a case of a violent assault that was resolved in the court of law.”
Lanez, sentenced to 10 years in 2023 for the shooting, will be eligible for parole in 2029. His lawyers intend to file new motions based on the bodyguard’s statement and other material. Prosecutors have yet to respond publicly, but legal experts note that overturning a jury verdict requires proof that the trial was fundamentally flawed.
