*Mary J. Blige has given her full endorsement to fans who choose to dress as her for Halloween. In a new interview with PEOPLE, the Grammy-winning artist expressed genuine appreciation for those who recreate her memorable styles.
“I love it so much because it says, you know, I’m a household name,” she told PEOPLE, recalling her own childhood Halloween costume experiences with her sister.
“When we were kids, we wanted to be Wonder Woman, you know what I mean?” the R&B songstress shared, noting that they once dressed up as members of the rock band KISS. “Me and my sister used to fight over who’s gonna be the guy with the tongue hanging out his mouth.” Blige added, “Now, people are fighting over who’s gonna be Mary J. Blige for Halloween. I love that.”

Fans of the global superstar can experience her “For My Fans” concert film in theaters on November 5 and 8. The movie captures Mary’s Madison Square Garden performance from April during her tour of the same name.
“I named it the For My Fans Tour because in all the Mary J. Blige concerts, it’s really about the fans. If it wasn’t for them, there would be none of this,” she said.
“It’s all about their reaction to the music that, you know, I’ve been putting out for years and just how much they love and support me — and as you can see, they don’t miss a beat,” Blige continued. “Like, sometimes I don’t even have to sing that much.”
Tickets for “Mary J. Blige: For My Fans” are available through the film’s website.
