*”Avengers: Endgame” shattered box office records six years ago and solidified itself as a cinematic milestone. Now, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are preparing for their next epic showdown.
Marvel Studios has officially announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday with a live-streamed event on X (formerly Twitter). The film, set to begin production in London next month, promises to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects to date.
The confirmed lineup for “Avengers: Doomsday” boasts a blend of returning favorites, fresh faces, and iconic legends. Paul Rudd reprises his role as Ant-Man, joined by Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Lewis Pullman is set to debut as Sentry, while Florence Pugh returns as Yelena and Danny Ramirez as Falcon. Legendary actor Ian McKellen joins the MCU as Magneto, alongside Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and Chris Hemsworth continuing his reign as Thor.
The “X-Men” are well represented, with Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler. Vanessa Kirby will step into the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, with Pedro Pascal portraying Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch. Tenoch Huerta Mejía returns as Namor, while Letitia Wright reprises her role as Shuri/Black Panther. Hannah John-Kamen will appear as Ghost, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing.
Perhaps the most surprising addition is Robert Downey Jr., making his highly anticipated MCU return—not as Tony Stark, but as the infamous Victor Von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom. Rounding out the star-studded cast is Anthony Mackie, continuing his journey as Sam Wilson/Captain America.

What to Expect from Avengers: Doomsday
While Marvel remains tight-lipped about plot details, early rumors suggest “Avengers: Doomsday” will set the stage for the long-awaited “Avengers: Secret Wars,” scheduled for release in 2027. With Doom now in play, speculation is rampant about his role in the MCU’s multiversal saga and whether this marks the beginning of Marvel’s interpretation of “Battleworld,” a storyline from the comics where realities collide.
The film’s release date of May 1, 2026, gives Marvel ample time to craft a spectacle worthy of the Avengers’ legacy. With the Russos at the helm and a cast stacked with talent, “Avengers: Doomsday” has the potential to reignite fan excitement and cement Marvel’s dominance in the superhero genre once more.
