Carey will also take the stage on September 17 for a unique performance on the Guamá River as part of the Amazônia Live—Today and Always event. According to AllHipHop, the concert, set on a floating stage designed to mimic the Victoria Amazonica lilypad, aims to spotlight the climate crisis ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
Meanwhile, “Type Dangerous,” the lead single from Carey’s upcoming album “Here for It All,” recently hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. “It has been just under 19 years since Carey last controlled the Adult R&B Airplay chart,” Billboard notes, marking the longest gap between No. 1s for a female artist, surpassing Janet Jackson’s record. The album, her 16th, is set for release on September 21.
Carey’s chart success includes past Adult R&B Airplay No. 1 hits such as “We Belong Together,” which led for eight weeks in 2005, and “Fly Like a Bird,” which topped the chart for six weeks in 2006.
