*The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood was the place to be as the long-awaited sequel, “Freakier Friday,” made its premiere. The purple carpet was filled with nostalgia, as stars old and new reunited for a night celebrating the legacy of the beloved body-swap comedy.
Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were, of course, the centerpieces of the evening, returning as mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess Coleman. Their chemistry was as electric as ever, with both actresses clearly embracing the chaos and charm that made the original a cult classic. Now, with a new twist, Anna has a teenage daughter of her own. The sequel promises to double down on the heart and hilarity.
The premiere was a full-circle moment, not only for the cast but for fans who grew up quoting lines and singing “Take Me Away” as if they were a part of the Pink Slips. Speaking of which, the fictional band surprised attendees with a live performance, turning the event into a rock-infused throwback party.
Red carpet fashion didn’t disappoint. Lohan stunned in a soft pink gown with vintage Hollywood glam, while Curtis kept things fiery in a red mini that screamed confidence. Newcomers like Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons brought a fresh Gen Z energy, perfectly balancing the film’s multigenerational theme.
There was even a Parent Trap reunion, as Lohan posed with former co-stars Elaine Hendrix and Lisa Ann Walter, proof that Disney nostalgia still hits hard.

Directed by Nisha Ganatra, “Freakier Friday” is a story about change, chaos, and the bonds that hold families together, even when lightning strikes twice. With its premiere, it’s clear this sequel isn’t just riding on past success; it’s setting the tone for a new era of Disney magic.
Don’t miss “Freakier Friday” when it hits theaters Friday, August 8th.
