*LeBron James has denied claims that he wanted Anthony Davis traded from the Lakers following Davis’ move to the Dallas Mavericks.
The trade, which sent Davis, a 2029 first-round pick, and Max Christie to Dallas in exchange for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris, stunned the NBA world, Daily Mail reports. CBS NBA Insider Bill Reiter reported that James expressed frustration with Davis last year, but LeBron fired back on X, calling the claim false.
“It wasn’t that AD was going to be traded, it was just something to keep an eye on – that LeBron is frustrated with AD and doesn’t think that it is working,” Reiter said.
James clapped back on X, replying to a video clip of Reiter’s remarks with a Pinocchio emoji and a clown emoji along with the caption: ‘You a fkn lie!!!’
James has also slammed claims that he wanted Davis to leave the Lakers. ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin said on X that “James was surprised by the news, is processing it and had no idea it was in the works.”

Meanwhile, NFL star Patrick Mahomes, a Dallas Mavericks superfan, was just as stunned as fans by Doncic’s trade to the Lakers.
“Luka is such a franchise player,” Mahomes said during opening night at the Super Bowl on Monday. “I know it hurt my heart as a Mavs fan, but I’m excited for the future and having [Anthony Davis].
“It definitely hurts more than anything knowing Luka and the work that he put in and the time he’s put in in Dallas and the city and how he’s done so much for it. That’s been the thing that’s hurt me the most. But I’m excited for the future of the Mavs as well. Having AD and Kyrie [Irving] and all these guys they have, they’ll have a chance to go out there and compete. But I’m excited for Luka too and to get to learn under LeBron [James] and become even a better basketball player.”
Mahomes reassured fans on X that the trade wouldn’t stop him from supporting the team and being a frequent courtside guest at Mavericks games.
“I know the Mavs have a great basketball team and getting Anthony Davis is going to help them,” Mahomes said. “I’ll be there. I’m a Mavs fan through thick and thin.”
The Lakers face the Mavericks in Los Angeles on Feb. 25.
