*Larry Morrow is planning big things for his hometown of New Orleans. Taking a cue from his grandmother, who labeled him as “the dragon of the family,’” Morrow is making her proud with the grand opening of Morrow Steak, his new steakhouse.
The eatery, which opened June 7, offers various dining options for special occasions as it seats around 125 people, Yahoo! Finance (via Blavity) reports. Menu items blend classic steakhouse fare with innovative Asian-inspired dishes. NOLA.com notes lobster mac and cheese is featured along with prime beef, including tomahawk rib eye and wagyu steak, marinated pork chops, king salmon, broiled snapper and vegan eating options like kung pao cauliflower, a nod to Morrow’s Asian background.
Overall, Morrow Steak is part of a bigger master plan, whose plans are already underway for phase two of the Morrow Steak in the coming months as well as the launch of Spicy Mango, a New Orleans Caribbean-fusion restaurant.
To say his vision of the French Quarter becoming a hub for Black-owned dining establishments is only scratching the surface. According to Morrow, “We are going to light Frenchmen Street up.”
The 33-year-old businessman has nationwide ambitions, plotting a certified takeover that will change the game if things fall in line.
“I want to be the largest Black-owned hospitality group in the country,” Morrow told NOLA.com. “It’s already been written.”

News of the Morrow Steak opening comes after Morrow revealed the source of his ambition to Essence while chatting about his blend of Black and Korean cultures into the dishes he prepares at Sun Chong, his Korean- and Cajun-inspired restaurant that opened in 2023 in the French Quarter.
According to Essence, Morrow revealed that he opened Sun Chong as a surprise to his grandmother, after whom he named his grandmother business. The move falls in line with the matriarch’s high hopes for him and his success.
“You’re the dragon of the family,’” Morrow recalled his grandmother telling him. “You’re the one that flies high.”
