*The death investigation of teenager Celeste Rivas, whose body was discovered inside a Tesla belonging to rapper d4vd, has taken a narrow focus as authorities pursue a single potential charge. Despite rampant online speculation, the Los Angeles Police Department emphasizes that no evidence of foul play has surfaced and no suspects have been named, Hot New Hip-Hop reports.
In a statement released on November 6, the LAPD said: “The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death. As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body. RHD is thoroughly examining every aspect of this case to uncover the truth and seek justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family.”
Investigators have identified only one possible criminal act: concealing Rivas’ remains. KTLA legal analyst Alison Triessl clarified that hiding an accidental death constitutes a misdemeanor in California, carrying penalties of up to one year in county jail and a $10,000 fine. Actively concealing a body qualifies as criminal behavior, though merely failing to report an accidental death does not violate state law.

Rivas was reported missing in April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California, located approximately 76 miles from the impound facility where authorities eventually located the Tesla. Law enforcement sources told ABC News the vehicle had been parked near a Hollywood Hills property where d4vd was residing before his now-canceled “Withered World Tour.”
Social media attention intensified after a livestream emerged showing the rapper discussing grooming someone identified as Celeste. Rivas’ mother confirmed to TMZ that her daughter had been romantically involved with someone named David.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney confirmed no case submission has been received. Celeste’s body was returned to her family on September 23, with a memorial service conducted on October 6 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery and Mortuary in Rowland Heights, California.
