*The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) is set to deliver an unforgettable evening of classical music on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Glendale’s historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA.
The program, titled BOURGEOISIE: MOZART + HAYDN + HANDEL, will feature the highly anticipated LACO debut of acclaimed pianist Awadagin Pratt, performing Mozart’s radiant Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. The concert will be led by GRAMMY-winning conductor Jeannette Sorrell, celebrated for her dynamic interpretations of Baroque and Classical repertoire.
Pratt, hailed as “one of the great and distinctive American pianists of our time” by WGBH, brings his signature musical insight and passionate performance style to Mozart’s beloved concerto.

The program also includes Mozart’s Overture from Don Giovanni, selections from Handel’s enchanting The Water Music, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 8 in G Major, “Le soir” (“Evening”). Jeannette Sorrell, whose documentary “Playing with Fire: Jeannette Sorrell and the Mysteries of Conducting” was released in 2023, is renowned for her vibrant and innovative approach to early music.
This concert marks her second appearance with LACO, further solidifying her reputation as one of the leading conductors of her generation.
The event is made possible through the generous support of the Colburn Foundation, alongside public funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the State of California, and other esteemed organizations. Steinway, the official piano of LACO, will provide the instrument for Pratt’s performance, ensuring a flawless auditory experience.

About the Artists:
Awadagin Pratt is a celebrated pianist, violinist, and conductor whose career has been defined by his profound musicality and versatility. A winner of the Naumburg International Piano Competition and an Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, Pratt has performed with major orchestras worldwide and recorded critically acclaimed albums. He currently serves as a Professor of Piano at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Jeannette Sorrell is a trailblazing conductor known for her fresh interpretations of Baroque and Classical music. A protégée of Leonard Bernstein, she has earned international acclaim for her work with period and modern orchestras.
Her documentary, “Playing with Fire,” offers a fascinating glimpse into her artistic journey and conducting philosophy.
