*Kimora Lee Simmons says her household has expanded beyond her five children, as she has embraced a nurturing role for the late Kim Porter’s kids following Porter’s passing.
As PEOPLE reports, during a recent appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends,” Kimora said she has become a “surrogate mom” to Porter’s children, especially 18-year-old twins D’Lila and Jessie. Simmons joked, “I have my kids, and then I have kids on the side… I’m a lot of people’s mom.”
Porter shared the twins and sons Quincy, 33, and Christian, 26, with incarcerated music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Simmons is mother to daughters Ming, 25, and Aoki, 21, with ex-husband Russell Simmons, as well as son Kenzo, 16, with actor Djimon Hounsou, and son Wolfe, 10, with Tim Leissner. She also adopted her son, Gary, when he was 10.
Combs is currently serving a four-year prison sentence following his conviction on two counts of transportation for prostitution. He is expected to remain in custody until 2028. Kimora explained that her connection to his twin daughters has deepened as she continues to support them.

Meanwhile, Porter’s ex-partner, Al B. Sure—Quincy’s biological father— recently renewed public claims about Combs’ alleged involvement in suppressing information surrounding Porter’s death in 2018. The R&B star previously accused Combs’ team of mounting “the most expensive PR media campaign” to challenge his concerns about foul play, a claim that Combs’ representatives and Porter’s family have repeatedly rejected.
As we reported earlier, Sure, who has suggested Diddy was linked to his 2022 coma, shared unconfirmed evidence of media manipulation. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “the most expensive PR media campaign” was launched to “conceal evidence, discredit, silence, and drag me through the national media” after the artist raised concerns about Porter’s passing. He claims this included attacks on his mental health to undermine his credibility. “I didn’t return from death to lay down and be silent,” Sure stated.
“Post coma, I was minding my business, living a clean and healthy lifestyle, physical therapy, daily prayer meditation, realigning with my seeds, recovering a few million owed me in unpaid royalties & publishing for my 30+ years of creative work, and advocating in Congress for proper healthcare in our communities,” he continued. “Focused! Only to deal with this continuous corrupt bullsh from people working overtime to destroy me because of their own darkness.”
Sure called for scrutiny into media outlets, asking, “Let’s investigate which 27 news outlets [allegedly] took payments to scrub #KimPorter from their news cycle?”
