*The entertainment world mourns the loss of actress Kimberly Hébert Gregory, who passed away on Friday, October 3, at the age of 52. Her ex-husband, Chester Gregory, shared the heartbreaking news via his Instagram account, though he did not disclose the cause of her death.
As noted by USA Today, Gregory rose to prominence through her portrayal of principal Belinda Brown in HBO’s dark comedy “Vice Principals,” which premiered in 2016 and ran for two seasons alongside Danny McBride and Walton Goggins. Her career spanned a wide range of guest appearances on shows such as “Gossip Girl,” “Private Practice,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Better Call Saul,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “The Chi.” She also lent her voice to the 2023 Netflix animated series “Carol & the End of the World.”
In film, Gregory showcased her versatility with roles in the 2007 Chris Rock comedy “I Think I Love My Wife” and the 2019 drama “Five Feet Apart.” Chester Gregory described her as “brilliance embodied” and “a Black woman whose mind lit every room.” The former couple shared a son, as noted in his announcement.
Tributes from colleagues poured in, with Walton Goggins sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram. “One of the best I’ve ever worked with,” he wrote. “I had the honor … the good fortune of getting to know, getting to spend months working with this Queen on ‘Vice Principals.’ She made me laugh like no other. A professionals professional.” He concluded, “You will be missed my friend. As much as you know.”
