*Killer Mike is suing the private security firms hired for the 2024 Grammys, blaming them for his wrongful arrest at the event.
According to his lawsuit, security stopped him on his way to the red carpet despite his multiple wins and proper credentials. He claims the security companies (S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security) gave their staff excessive authority, leading to an unlawful citizen’s arrest where he was physically restrained in public, causing emotional distress and humiliation. As a result, he was detained by police for hours, missing the chance to present an award. Though charges were later dropped, Mike argues the incident damaged his reputation and is seeking damages, TMZ reports.
We reported earlier that Killer Mike spoke to Big Tigger on his radio show shortly after the incident to discuss his encounter with police at the 2024 Grammys. In a clip that went viral amid the awards show, the rapper is seen handcuffed and escorted by Los Angeles police out of the Crypto.com Arena after allegedly physically assaulting a staffer.
Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, won three Grammy awards before his arrest. He was booked for misdemeanor battery “on a citizen’s arrest” and ultimately released on his own recognizance.
The activist denied reports that he was “carried out” of the ceremony, saying, “I wasn’t carried out of nowhere,” he told Big Tigger.

“We not even gon’ allow you to ask that question. We gon’ get back to the real question,” he continued.
“How did he do it? Three Grammys, twenty years in the game, forty-eight years old, beat out everybody in the thang! He beat the best of the best. So, all you can say is he’s one of the best,” Killer Mike added.
Killer Mike won the “Best Rap Album” award for “Michael”, “Best Rap Performance” award for “Scientists & Engineers”, and the “Best Rap Song” award for “Scientists & Engineers” during the 66th GRAMMY Awards.
