*Kevin Gates caused a stir over the weekend with eyebrow-raising remarks about LeBron James and his wife, Savannah. Days later, the rapper was spotted courtside at the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on April 22, attending with girlfriend Brittany Renner, just feet away from the couple he recently criticized, Billboard reports.
During the April 19 video that ignited backlash, Gates questioned Savannah’s demeanor toward her husband, implying she lacked warmth. “I don’t like the way Savannah look at LeBron. I like the way them white women look at LeBron,” he said. He went on to compare Savannah’s expression to that of a prison warden, suggesting it reflected disapproval rather than support.
While the NBA superstar didn’t mention Gates by name, LeBron issued a pointed response on Instagram shortly after. Sharing affectionate photos with Savannah, he captioned the post, “Kings don’t concern themselves with the opinions of peasants. Where to next, Queen?!?! Let’s get it!” Many took this as a clear dismissal of Gates’ remarks.
Savannah also added a subtle response, posting a meme of Nicki Minaj saying, “Um, chile, anyways, so,” followed by laughing emojis, signaling her decision to brush off the drama.
Gates, not one to stay quiet, addressed LeBron’s post directly in another Instagram video, telling the NBA star: “The truth hurts, but it heals.”

He added, “Long as you being celebrated, I don’t care who don’t like me.” Despite the tension, he expressed admiration for the athlete, saying, “I love you.”
Whether the courtside appearance was a coincidence or a calculated move, it didn’t go unnoticed, especially given that LeBron appeared to pay him no attention during the game. Watch the short clip below.
