*Nearly two years after her headline-making split from Darius Jackson over her viral Usher moment, Keke Palmer is finally telling her side of the story in a deeply personal track, “My Confession.” The singer/actress describes the track as an honest reflection on heartbreak, healing, and reclaiming her voice.
“This one is personal,” Palmer wrote on Instagram, explaining the song is about “giving voice to the feelings I buried.” The emotional single marks a turning point for the star, who says she’s found peace and clarity in the aftermath of a very public breakup.
Palmer and Jackson’s relationship unraveled in 2023 after a clip of her being serenaded by Usher during his Las Vegas residency went viral. The video, showing Palmer in a sheer Givenchy outfit, prompted Jackson, father of her then-5-month-old son, to publicly criticize her. “It’s the outfit tho… you a mom,” he posted on X, sparking backlash.
Defending his stance, Jackson later wrote, “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals… I rest my case.” The public fallout reportedly ended their relationship soon after.
On a February episode of her podcast Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, she and Usher revisited the viral moment with humor and clarity. “We caused some ruckus in my relationship,” Palmer admitted. Usher joked, “Did I send you that dress?”

Speaking about her new single in the IG post, Palmer said, “I’m not here to play perfect.”
“I’m here to be honest. I’m just here to be Keke,” she added.
“Sometimes the closure we need doesn’t come from a conversation—it comes from being honest with ourselves. That’s what this song is. My peace. My clarity. My way of letting go,” she wrote.
