*After a challenging separation in August 2024, Judge Greg Mathis and his wife, Linda Mathis, have reconciled, choosing to rebuild their 39-year marriage.
The couple, who briefly parted ways after Linda filed for divorce, worked diligently to mend their relationship. “We [have] enjoyed our time doing that, each and every day, and it’s just been progressively, just great,” Linda, 62, said, according to PEOPLE, in their interview on the “Tamron Hall Show” airing Oct. 8.
Linda’s decision to file for divorce stemmed from a need to prioritize herself after years of supporting her husband. “I supported him always,” she explained. “And, at that time, I felt I needed to just take care of me. And that’s what I felt I was doing at that time.” The couple, married since 1985, share four adult children: Jade, 40, Camara, 38, Greg Jr., 36, and Amir, 35.
For Greg, 65, the separation was deeply painful, likening it to the grief of losing his mother. “[I] felt like I did when I lost my mother,” he said. “That’s the feeling I had. And I’d do anything to get my mother back. So, I did anything to get my wife back.” Determined to save their marriage, he stayed home, canceling speaking engagements to focus on Linda.

Greg addressed rumors of infidelity, clarifying that neglect, not an affair, led to their issues. “Neglect can create suspicion, certainly,” he told TMZ on Aug. 30. “If you’re gone as much as I am, she has every right to suspect. You go to work, and you go to serve the community around the country. Then, you go with your guys to sporting events around the country and you go to other events without your wife. She would have a right to suspect infidelity.”
Despite their struggles, the couple remained under the same roof, maintaining a friendship during the separation and healing process. “We’re still in the same house, we’re maintaining a friendship,” Greg said. “I have to show her that, though. Hopefully, I can show her while we’re there together and hopefully, she doesn’t complete the process.”
His commitment paid off, as he affirmed, “I’m getting my wife back.”
