*Jill Scott is speaking openly about the personal and financial challenges she has faced throughout her life. The singer and actress appeared on the December 21 episode of the podcast “Million Dollaz Worth of Game,” where she reflected on hardship, growth, and resilience.
While discussing adversity with co-host Gillie Da Kid, Scott emphasized the value of life’s struggles. “It’s like all the lessons that you get, all the things that deter you are really the impetus for your greatness,” she said, Complex reports. “These things are character-building. And you learn as you go.”
Scott also addressed her personal life, acknowledging that she has been divorced twice. “Nobody’s perfect. And I’m divorced twice. Like, there’s no way that I’ve had a perfect existence,” she admitted. She then revealed the extent of her financial setbacks, stating, “I’ve lost more money than people have ever made or ever will, multiple times.”
When Gillie asked if those financial losses were connected to her divorce, Scott clarified that they were not. She responded simply that the losses came from “other sh*t.”

Scott was married to Lyzel Williams from 2001 to 2007, and her second marriage, to Mike Dobson, began in June 2016 and ended less than two years later. The songstress is the mother of a 16-year-old son, Jett Roberts, whom she shares with her former fiancé, musician Lil John Roberts.
