*Jeff Metcalf, the father of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, is speaking out against “The View” and several media personalities he says spread misinformation about his son’s death.
In an interview with Fox News host Will Cain, Jeff addressed the public commentary surrounding Karmelo Anthony’s case. “People had their own opinions without even seeing the facts, and that’s the part I have trouble with,” he said, The Sun reports.
“Unfortunately, in today’s moral decay of society that we’ve witnessed, people believe that if they have their own voice, they scream loud enough, they’re right,” Metcalf added.
Austin was stabbed and killed at a Frisco, Texas high school track meet on April 2, 2025. Anthony, now 19, was found guilty of murder on June 9 and handed a 35-year prison sentence.
Much of Jeff’s frustration centered on “The View” host Sunny Hostin, who publicly argued that the jury should have credited Anthony’s self-defense claim.
Hostin pointed to the physical size difference between the two teenagers and noted that Anthony was the only Black student present under the tent. She further noted that Karmelo lacked “a jury of his peers” and suggested the conviction carried legitimate grounds for appeal.
Jeff dismissed the commentary as uninformed and self-serving. “She has no idea on the facts of the case, but she wants to spew her public opinion on a platform that reaches millions of people every day,” he said.
“She is completely wrong.” His frustration extended beyond Hostin alone. “They don’t know me. They don’t know Hunter, Austin. They don’t know Karmelo. They’re looking for their 15 minutes of fame or their clickbait. They’re looking to monetize the death of my son.”
Jeff also discussed the footage released after the verdict, which shows Austin inside a competing team’s tent, making contact with Anthony before the stabbing occurred. Trial witnesses described Anthony stepping into that tent and warning Austin, “Touch me and see what happens,” moments before Austin shoved him and Anthony produced a knife. A medical examiner testified that the blade tore into the right side of Austin’s heart.
