*Instagram is rolling out a new initiative called “Rings,” an awards effort to celebrate standout creators on the platform.
This program introduces a fresh approach to highlighting top talent among its billions of users. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 25 creators will be selected, each awarded a custom physical ring created by British designer Grace Wales Bonner, plus a distinctive golden digital ring that enhances their profile and Stories.
“We felt that it was time to have an award that recognizes people who take these creative chances on our platform,” Eva Chen, Instagram’s head of fashion partnerships, told THR. “These people are cultural catalysts, and they’re sparking conversations, and by doing that, they encourage people to express themselves as well.”

The selection committee for this Instagram program features Chen, Wales Bonner, and platform chief Adam Mosseri. They’ll collaborate with director Spike Lee, designer Marc Jacobs, actress Yara Shahidi, rugby star Ilona Maher, makeup artist Pat McGrath, and artist KAWS.
Honorees will be selected from a wide range of categories to reflect the diversity of creativity found across the platform. In addition to the rings, each winner gains one of Instagram’s premier privileges: a tailored profile.
Unlike the standard Instagram Story ring, which shows up in orange, red, or pink hues—or green for close friends—those awarded a Ring will have their stories bordered in gold. They can further customize their profile’s background hue, and their creations will be highlighted in a special in-app spotlight feed.
