*During a stop in Portland, Oregon, on his Truth to Power tour, Ice Cube spoke out after a fire damaged a bus used by his crew.
According to Newsweek, protesters mistook a bus marked with “ICE” for a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle and threw incendiary devices at it, causing notable external damage but no injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which left personnel and equipment unharmed.
On September 22, the bus, stationed in downtown Portland, had its front passenger tire set ablaze. Rick Graves, a spokesperson for Portland Fire & Rescue, informed Newsweek that firefighters swiftly put out the fire, averting any injuries or harm to the musical gear inside. Tresa Sanders, CEO of TreMedia, Ice Cube’s PR firm, clarified that the bus was part of the tour crew’s fleet and not owned by the rapper.

Ice Cube clarified the situation on X, telling his 5.7 million followers: “Wasn’t my bus. It was a crew bus. Parked in front of the hotel. Everybody was upstairs sleeping. Nobody hurt. No equipment damaged. A coward set fire to the bus. My bus was actually in Oakland getting serviced.”
Responding to a user who criticized him for downplaying the incident, Ice Cube said: “I was stating the facts. Being in my business is absurd on your part. So STFU [shut the f*** up]…” In another post, he addressed a photo from 2018 mistakenly associated with the bus fire, clarifying: “This is not on my bus anymore. This is from 2018.”
Ice Cube also told Newsweek via Sanders: “I’m not taking this incident as a personal attack. A coward like that would burn anybody’s property that was out there at the time.”
Portland Fire & Rescue confirmed that crews ventilated the interior smoke, contacted the Fire Investigations Unit, and cleared the scene.
Police are reviewing security footage and witness statements as the investigation continues.
