‘Happy’s Place’ sitcom blends heart and humor in season 2 return
*NBC’s multi-camera comedy “Happy’s Place” is officially back for a second round of laughs. The sitcom stars Reba McEntire as Bobbie McAllister and Belissa Escobedo as her half-sister, Isabella. After inheriting their father’s tavern, the duo must learn to work—and live—together despite big personality differences.
Filmed before a live studio audience, “Happy’s Place” delivers classic sitcom warmth with modern storytelling. Themes of grief, identity, and found family take center stage—all served with laughs and love. The series will return this November for Season 2.
‘Happy’s Place’ sitcom reunites Reba and Melissa Peterman
Longtime fans of Reba McEntire will recognize the on-screen magic with Melissa Peterman, who plays Gabby, a bartender and Bobbie’s confidante. The two previously co-starred on “Reba,” and their chemistry continues to shine on “Happy’s Place.”
Rounding out the cast are Rex Linn as Emmett, Pablo Castelblanco as Steve the accountant, Tokala Black Elk as Takoda the waiter, and Escobedo, whose rising star power adds a fresh dimension of Latina representation to primetime.

Behind the bar: why this cast just clicks
In a recent interview with EURweb’s Kenny Pettis Jr., Reba and Belissa praised their cast’s bond. Reba credited the group’s mutual respect and shared love for storytelling. Belissa pointed to their shared sense of humor, pranks, and overall silliness as key ingredients to the cast’s chemistry.
“We like each other… whatever happens in the tavern gets solved because of friendship and love for each other,” said Reba.
“We’re very silly. Very sarcastic. We like to prank each other,” Belissa added.
Reba McEntire embraces mentorship and lifelong learning
Though she’s a sitcom veteran, Reba says she learns from the younger cast members every day. With six and a half seasons of *Reba* under her belt, she expected to mentor others—but quickly found herself absorbing fresh perspectives from her co-stars.
“They’re teaching me things daily… it’s just like riding a bicycle. You just get right back into it,” she shared.
Belissa echoed the admiration, calling Reba’s presence both inspiring and graceful. She praised how Reba sets a high standard while leading with kindness—not ego.

‘Happy’s Place’ sitcom taps into themes of legacy and laughter
Created by Julie and Kevin Abbott—also behind “Reba”—”Happy’s Place” explores what happens when inherited responsibility collides with unresolved grief. Set in a small-town tavern, the series mixes country charm with cultural diversity and second chances.
The tavern becomes more than just a bar. It’s a place for healing, community, and good-natured mischief. That balance of comedy and heart has struck a chord with viewers across generations.
The show’s music brings two legends together
Adding to its soul, “Happy’s Place” features an original theme song co-written and performed by Reba and songwriting legend Carole King. The music sets the tone for a show that’s both nostalgic and forward-looking.
Their collaboration deepens the emotional impact, reflecting the show’s themes of memory, family ties, and the joy of new beginnings.

Offscreen laughs and dream getaways
During the EURweb chat, Reba shared that if given a day off like her character in the “Fish Fry Monday” episode, she’d hit up Universal Studios. Despite years in L.A., she never had time for the rides while raising her son and working.
“Here I am, 70 years old, (just now) getting to go to Universal,” she said with a smile.
It’s this sense of playfulness that continues to endear Reba to both fans and her co-stars—on and off set.
‘Happy’s Place’ message: Have fun and love hard
Asked what she’d carve into the bar counter if “Happy’s Place” were real, Reba didn’t hesitate. Her mantra: “Have fun.” That’s also how every day begins on set—with cast and crew doing a team cheer before filming.
“1, 2, 3… have fun! And we do,” Reba said proudly.
That joy comes through the screen, reminding viewers that even through grief and change, laughter can light the way forward.
